Armagedda – Svindeldjup Ättestup

The return of Armagedda was marked by the release of almost the best material in the history of the band. Of course, a lot of water has flowed away over so 15 years, and then you understand... life has gone so far that some people grab a rifle, others for guitars. And it is else debatable whose manifesto will be more destructive.

It's hard to say whether they wrote one track each over a two-year period or after a bottle of vodka they hit the table with their fist and decided to record an album in one go, but the album turned out to be what it needed. From track to track, the atmosphere thickens and becomes more darker and nervous. Throughout the recording, the feeling of the presence of supernatural evil does not leave. It would seem that Armagedda's music is based on the principles of minimalism, but the dark energy and mystic aura are off the scale. But in fact, Armagedda remained itself and, without a marketing strategy in Facebook / Instagram/ YouTube, outshine the lion's share of what came out and was demonstrated as Black Metal.

By the way, in the year of its release, this album gathered a lot of contradictory reviews around it. It's possible that every new Armagedda's album (if they ever decide to release an album again) will be compared to "The Final War Approaching" or "Only True Believers". But it would be fair to say that each band once had a certain creative peak, the results of which gathered an audience. And with each new album, the listeners are nearby and waiting for something similar, and then loudly outraged about unjustified expectations. Of course, no musician, even a professional or self-taught from the underground, can compose something like ten or fifteen years ago. But Armagedda has that devilish spark. Even the underground of the Armagedda level received a certain level of "Holy War" in occasion of the new release. This definitely means that they are respected, waiting and listening carefully to the recording. Who has received so much attention after such a long break?

The vinyl edition does not raise any questions. Gatefold with thematic design, referring to the times of "Ond Spiritism", classic black vinyl without the possibility of choosing one of the 666-color ultra-limited presses. Pleasant excesses in the form of huge posters or multi-page booklets - are not at the right address. In terms of sound, everything is at a high level, even if the source is quite minimalistic, the mastering for vinyl turned out to be dynamic and everything sounds very natural. The personal copy is absolutely smooth, clean and silent, the quality is better than the products of major labels. Great album!

The LP is very warped, but plays without any problems.
