Worth it for Orca - Intalect (Promised Land VIP Mix)

Anyone know if this version of Intalect is on any other release ?

I have the vinyl of this as well, lots of Lucky Spin label tunes on this. Again as with Vol3 if you were to buy the twelves of these tunes separately you'd spend a small fortune so you get some great tunes for a fraction of the cost of second hand EP's.

I love these Promised Land CDs. I used to have all of them and could never decide which one I like best. Other than the Progression Sessions series, I can't think of another drum and bass series that has so many great tracks on them. If you like this type of thing, that is.

Been listening to Promised Land Vol 1 & 2 this week. No nostalgia attached to either mix, though I was into this type of music at the time of release. I'd say Fabio's Vol.2 mix was solid but not classic. Most of the tracks are good but the slightly slower pace and very relaxed vocals from Cleveland Watkiss mean this set lacks energy and excitement in comparison to Vol.1 from LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad. Maybe that's on purpose, but this isn't one I can see myself returning to often.

As with the Bukem Promised Land, I will keep coming back to listen to this mix for years to come... So good, so smooth and perfectly of the moment back in 1996. I love the Cleveland lyrics and have fond memories of him presiding at the Blue Note. He wasn't recorded over many d&b mixes as far as I know and its nice to have him complement the absolutely rolling Fabio selection on this mix. There's premium tracks on offer here and as said below, a few alternative versions too.

If anyone knows where that other mix of Airtight can be found I'd be much obliged, I don't think its the usual one.

On some parts I feel this mix could do without Watkiss (or at least have him speaking rather than humming or whatever) but in other parts he gels so well with the tunes. Worth listening to for the exclusive (or virtually exclusive in the case of the voyager mix of universal traveller which only saw a promo release) tunes on this. Also the version of hypersleep is different to the R&S release (which has the aliens dialogue re-recorded). Not as good as bukem's vol.1 imo but an amazing listen nonetheless

There are many average compilation albums and DJ mixes clogging up record shop shelves these days, but this particular release is one of the gems that you would do well to pluck from the rubble. Quality rather than quantity is the order of the day here. Fabio mixes up a sublime collection of smooth and soulful drum and bass with a certain amount of mystique thrown in. Cleveland Watkiss's vocals add a certain earie quality, and are more of a gentle accompaniment rather than a prominent feature, which is as it should be. The Mix is the highlight flowing wonderfully from start to finish, but a selection of full length versions (not all included in the mix) is a welcome addition. This highlights Lucky Spin and Deejay artists of the time.
Overall this is a great example of the type introspective d&b being crafted around 1996.
