Show All 11 Reviews- Perhaps I'm one of the lucky ones; my copy has very little pops and crackles.
This is still one of my favourite Joe Hisaishi soundtracks. Listening to it without watching the movie is still an evocative, and at times emotional experience.
I'm glad to get my hands on this reissue. - What a shame, such a great album being pressed this poorly, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy this except for collecting purpose. Lots of pops and cracks, but the worst is that it sounds flat and there is constant noise. It is still a beautiful album but you won't want to play it after the first time.
- Edited one year agoIt´s true that this pressing it´s a bit noisy, specially if you rip your vinyl to listen to it in digital format via headphones, I did it myself ripping it with a Sony PSH500 and it´s a bit noisy, but it´s fully enjoyable.
When I listen to it on my home system, the cracks and pops are still there, but they are less noticeable, and it´s a far better audio experience, overall I´m happy with this vinyl, but it´s true that I think that, according to the audio quality and experience while listening to it, it´s overpriced and probably, knowing what I know owning this LP, I wouldn´t buy it, not a this price... - I am glad I am not the only one who experiences a ton of pops and clicks on this record, even after extensive cleaning. Disappointing but at least I'm not alone.
- Edited one year agoI tried cleaning my copy on a RCM machine and there were still numerous pops and clicks way beyond the norm (nearly every few rotations). I also followed with a clean on an ultrasonic cleaner and still unacceptably noisy. I was really looking forward to having this album on vinyl as I think it is Hisaishi's best work. Combined with the high price, this is a real disappointment.
- Edited one year agoTerrible amount of pops and cracks for such an expensive vinyl. The noise isn't as noticeable on the louder sections but its quite distracting in the quieter sections. A shame as the music sounds great. The image album version had much less noise, although a different tracklist.
Edit: If you are open to it, I cleaned it with wood glue and it did make a noticeable decrease in noise. - Edited 2 years agoMy pressing was absolute garbage. The first record is filled with a ridiculous amount of surface noise, completely ruins a fantastic soundtrack. The second record is definitely better, but still not perfect.
- Edited 2 years agoHonestly, pretty much disappointing. No question, its a great collectors item, great cover, lables, obi, ect. But the pressing/sound quality...oh my god. Don't know how a new record can sound so noisy and flat. Maybe I was just unlucky with my copy. But for that price!?
I got the symphonic version as well, sounds a bit better but still not what I would expect from a new Japanese record in this price range. - Edited 2 years agoUnfortunately my copy and the Symphonic version I purchased both have sections of non-fill and surface noise on all sides. The music sounds fantastic, but the pressing quality isn't there. Luckily LITA is refunding me for my purchases.
- A very good pressing of もののけ姫 who sound pretty well (with some slight crackling.) Thanks to Ghibli to make this on 2 lp, it's therefore well-balanced. Good design too !
