Recommendations
Reviews
- I'm one of the fortunate who owns one of these products precisely because I also had an Ayre C-5xe universal player and was just a giant Talking Heads fan. And had in general terms a system that would make the most of a very hi res way to dig these genius musicians and songwriters and artists. I couldn't recommend this musical product to others more highly. If you have kit that fits what this exceptional product is capable of achieving sonically and are also a fan of this brilliant musical group, you should carefully consider acquiring this through this marketplace and especially so if you can make use of surround 24/96 recordings. It's hard to convey how marvelous it is to encounter this stunning marriage of wonderful music at the edge of the technical art. Everyone who owns a version of the C-5xe but lacks this compilation should be deeply tempted to go ahead a buy the product. You're buying hours of pure pleasure, the level of sonic achievement is thrilling, and revelatory. My recollection is that many felt that DVD-Audio was superior to SACD, almost always. My personal experience has been consistent with that view.
- this is begging for a reissue. needs a separate CD and DVD-A version i think, for people who just want the regular audio instead of the surround.
- Rich, warm, digital surround sound on the DVD side sounds fantastic. I have the Rhino vinyl releases of their notable albums and prefer the DVD audio. I wouldn't mind seeing some Talking Heads given the audiophile treatment from MoFi or AP.
- I actually got my copy as a promo at CBGB's at the release party. Jerry was there as was Hilly Kristal who told a story about how Tina had an extra long bass cable and she would walk to the sound guy mid-set and tell him how to tweak the sound. Then a band that Jerry was producing played a short set and Jerry joined them for a cover of And She Was, which I think he forgot how to play because he spent most of the song with his back to the audience. Also, Jerry talked a bit about remastering with ET and the amount of detail they went into to get it right. Awesome collection if you can get your hands on one!
- Does anybody know if the 2005 remastering job for the brick has ever made it to vinyl? I'm thinking Rhino needs to release the brick as a vinyl box set.
- Be aware that these dual discs are slightly thicker than regular CDs and pose problems for slot-loading machines. The DVD portion plays fine in a MacBook or Superdrive but not the CD side for example.
- I hate this format. I hate Dual-Disc. I want the surround sound mixes on the CD side. My DVD player is a cheap piece of junk and it's not hooked up to my rig. This is awful and it must be rectified.
