Limited edition of 350 copies (the first 25 sleeves included an original cross-processed photograph snapped and created by Scott Beschta. Each was affixed by either four framed points or directly glued to the jacket cover. Roommates was a short-lived collaboration between Erik Kowalski (Casino Versus Japan) and Scott Beschta (Magic Arrows) when they shared an East Side apartment in the glorious city of Milwaukee during the Summer of 1998. A lot happened during that period and sadly a few visitors welcomed to that space have long since died.
Although the times given above are for play at 45rpm, I think the standout track "Woodward & Bernstein" sounds better at 33rpm. As a matter of fact, I'd be more inclined to listen to the whole EP at 33rpm. At either speed, it's woozy, funky, lofi trip hop with reverby atmospherics and a playful vibe. The run out grooves read "Wobblyhead: the red meat of the 21st century" and "Doubleplus good made in Milwaukee." Nothing outstanding, but fans of Casino Versus Japan (and perhaps soon fans of Magic Arrows) will probably find it worth checking out.
