I cannot believe this resells for so much now, yes, the vinyl sounds insane to my ears, but the box is not as sturdy as I’d expect and the single sleeve for TFM is rubbish. Just buy the picture disc and wait for a repress
The pros -nice packaging -box set -gatefolded (TF)
The cons -UO choose the ugliest colors available for this pressing. Silver and dirty green water? -The audio quality of both albums SUCKS. lifeless, underwhelming muffled sound, at least my copy, listened with bose 35 headphones -flimsy light discs
Conclusion I was very disappointed with this release. I don't think it was worth the retail price back them and definitely NOT WORTH the scalper prices being asked today.I sold my copy. If you really want TFM album just buy the picture disc.
This boxset is really gorgeous; The outer box, outer sleeves and colored vinyls all look great, but are of really cheap quality. The outer box is already damaged on top just because of puting it in and out of the shelf and there's no proper inner sleeves for the vinyls, just plain white paper sleeves (Which makes me wonder, if they made an insert for The Fame Monster, why didn't they just made it an inner sleeve or gatefold) but all in all, for the price this released for back in 2020 (40$) it's more than serviceable, you can't ask much more for it since its a really budget pressing and it shows
Now, how does it sound? Very divisive. The Fame sounds AMAZING, and I mean it, deep bass, nice mids and really cool highs, a 10/10 pressing. But the main reason for which most people will want this release is the regular pressing of the The Fame Monster EP, which, quite Honestly sounds like a really, mid digital release pressed onto a vinyl. Yes, it's dead silent which maybe the Picture Disc isn't (I don't own it myself) but the sound is really muffled and compressed, I think the best description for it is that it sounds like a bad 70s vinyl, where they would just press a cassette tape onto a vinyl.
When this was released, this was definitely a great deal, but now that it has sky rocketed in price it's not worth the money it goes for at all. If you are really looking for a good sounding pressing of this albums, just buy a regular The Fame pressing and the TFM Picture Disc.
I cannot resist a boxset, they look great on the shelf. But I can’t stand how the vinyl business gets cheaper and cheaper. The outer sleeve is a shiny piece of paper glued to a box - it scratches easily just from pulling it out from the shelf. The vinyl sleeves are shiny too and look great, but I wish the inner record sleeves weren’t just plain white paper, considering the price. You can buy a C2C Live! vinyl for less than 20 USD and it comes with printed sleeves. I am happy to finally own TFM on vinyl though.
i want this album on vinyl so bad its my fav album from hers -- but; i wouldn't really recommend anyone purchasing this or the pic disc as tfm's 15th anniversary is this november so save your money!! she'll most likely have a new coloured reissue
so happy I have this, love both albums and the boxet makes it feel very complete! hoping they do a new, more widely available pressing of the fame monster!
This pressing of The Fame Monster is amazing! A little noisy on Bad Romance, but the rest of the tracks sound excellent, especially Dance in the Dark. The color is beautiful as well. As for the box, agreed that it kind of crushed up the LPs and came split because of how it was packaged but not a big deal as I store both separately out of the box.
