Reviews
- "Ain't Lookin' Back" was my intro to Mo Pitney. Although I got this about eight months ago, it's music that keeps getting deeper each time I spin the set. The country rocker "Local Honey" is currently at #1 in my personal top ten rotation, combining a good beat & a bit of double entendre, "That local honey, sweeter than sugar just standing there, that local honey, homegrown down the road about a mile from here where the birds and the bees get buzzy, makes me wanna lay down my money on that local honey." (His music video for the song with the little girl drummer is so charming.) "Ain't Bad for a Good Ol' Boy" celebrates simple blessings, "We got a roof to keep the rain off, Mail box to write our name on, A ten-acre lot with a little bird dog on the front porch guarding that screen door." "Ain't Lookin' Back," the title track, is a classic song with its anthem-like melody, "I ain't lookin' back. Why would I when I ain't goin' that way?" The religious song "Jonas" hits the heartstring as a common man looks at Jesus, "Is He a lunatic, a liar or the Lord?" There are no weak songs on this set. It's beautiful.
