There was confusion with this record. What had happened was Aurra You and Me Tonight was a hot import. Although their previous records were on Salsoul You and Me Tonight was an import. You could only get it at the few Locations (Manhattan) that sold imports and they sold out fast. This version was made to capitalize on the popularity of the song since there was a street buzz but no record. I'm sure Salsoul wanted to keep the name Aurra and both Kurt and Starleana were in Slave before Aurra so them changing names was not new. The confusion was when they chose the name Deja . since Deja Vu was already in the stores. I love Kelly Charles and Joey Washingtons voice but Curt and Star were no joke.

i'm afraid something goes wrong with the links to the artists, there... '[Invalid Artist]' was normally the very first name of '[Invalid Artist]', and later '[Invalid Artist]', and this release was the very first one version of this huge hit (not 'a slightly later version from [Invalid Artist] original one', as we can read here !). this release was the one before the duo have signed out with the major company [Invalid Label], which one asked to them to change their name later, and to re-arrange the original version (this one). but, with this release, it was already an hit in u.s. clubs and radios, as probably all around the world in 1986, as here, in france, before all the other releases...
there was few years on [Invalid Label], i have seen a video from the very first tv show of the duo, on which one they were singing on this version. unfortunately, we cannot find it anymore, actually... that said, you can still find an other '[Invalid Artist]' live recording from 'top of the pops', here : youtube link. please, listen to the female singer solo speech at 1:40, you can ear very clearly her to insist on 'this is deja vu...', and i think it was not warmless at this time, with all the sacrifices they have had to do before for [Invalid Label] record company !
finally, i have to tell you i have bought this record the week it was released, in 1986, and i still can remember this one came some long long weeks before the '[Invalid Artist]' one, and for sure, one year before the last changing of duo's name for '[Invalid Artist]', after a last deal with [Invalid Label]... be sure, this very small release was the very first original one, played by dj's and radios, whereas all the latest ones '[Invalid Artist]' or '[Invalid Artist]', will never have had the same strenght and richness of souls ! more, there is a very useful acapella version on this one !
sorry, if it's really difficult to proof this story today (it was 30 years ago now...), but i hope this comment will help ! all other investigations about similitudes between writers and producers credited on 'Deja Vu (6) - U And Me 2 Nite', 'Aurra - You And Me Tonight (Midnight Mix)' and 'Déjà - You And Me Tonight', are welcomed !
      peace !
