Beautiful songwriting, performance, recording, and mastering.

That said, there is an unusual amount of low frequency energy in BC's vocals - I can see why some cartridges/arms might have problems tracking it, especially (as someone noted below) on the inner grooves where this record is cut very close to the label. It also doesn't help that my copy is pressed off centre (as is my copy of REALITY).

Fortunately, though, my system tracks everything without distortion. Playing this record fills every corner of my room with music.

I'll chime in and say my copy is also solid. No distortion on the vocals and record sounds clean

Mine sounds very good. This was a nice $15 preloved find. Love Bill Callahan’s music

Pressing is very strong coming off my stereo. Crisp, resonant, solid all-around. Another amazing record by everyone's favorite pensive chronicler of understated human connections!

Nice pressing to my ears. Very little background noise for a relatively sparse record, and no distortion as mentioned elsewhere.

Mayor distortions. Very hard to ignore. Found out too late for a return

No weird distortion on my pressing. Sounds great to my ears.

My pressing is fine - this album rocks. Get it and return it if it's not pressed properly.

It's definitely a weird pressing. I have the same problems listed below----lots of distortion on the vocals, and looked to be in rough shape right out of the wrap. Maybe the delay in pre-orders had something to do with quality issues?

As a previous reviewer noted, there is weird distortion on the vocals on some of the tracks and it sounds like a mastering or pressing issue. Absolutely distracting and disappointing.
