This is a beautiful Stones album. Side A is absolutely gorgeous, culminating in Angie. The mix of Angie is stellar. Acoustic guitar on the left channel, piano on the right. The vocals are upfront and crystal clear and then the drums kick in. As a whole, this is the most consistently sounding Stones album of its time. Of course I am biased. The album was first released n 1973, my first year in high school. Angie and Heartbreaker were all over the radio. Every song, the writing, the pacing, the delivery on GHS is spectacular.

As far as reissues go this is a good one. I had an original pressing back in the day as far as I can remember this is better. I can say with certainty that the soundstage and dynamics are very good. It sounds just a tad compressed but not extremely so. My copy is dead quiet but I did run it through my ultrasonic cleaner before playing it. For the money a worthwhile pressing.

This one is so much better than all the copies I tried, even the first pressing. I always liked this album very much, to me it was no let down in those days, because they were still expanding and experimenting, and I liked the autumnal atmosphere. But the pressings were bad, the sound muffled, not in that dirty way of Exile, no, dull. Here the dynamics are in full swing, details shine through and it proofs, GHS belongs to the streak of masterpieces starting with Beggars Banquet (and Black and Blue and Some Girls are not bad either, the real downer is It's only Rock 'n Roll, despite some killer songs, it just has too many boring ones).

Noisy pressing. Loud pops, especially end of A2 / most of A3. Record is brand new, wet washed, being played for the first time.

This pressing sounds terrific. Glad I opted to get it over the beat up vintage ones I kept coming across
