First TP for which I am questioning the sound : do you also have drops in volume or is it just Jimmy Smith playin with the pedal all the time ? Genuine question here but I’d love to have your opinion.
Sometimes it sounds muddy and almost no bass from the organ compared to digital versions. Please let me know !

Sounds good. The dums and brass seem right there at the speakers. The detail is great, but a little subdued.

When the drums get reallly going, you can tell the recording tape was not up to the task.So there are sometimes, when the drums

explode, but yiou won't be able to hear each of the drum heads' sounds during a live event.

Overall great effort. 4.5 out of 5.

A slow burner of a soul jazz record that never rises above the level of a vigorous simmer but when it bubbles along as consistently well as this then that’s just fine.
Some tasty playing from all involved here. All four players gel really well and the sound is clear and vibrant.
Record is pressed well, just the occasional minor pop on my copy but nothing that spoils the music.

I got to agree with others here. Listening on Klipschorns with Western Electric tubes, Modwright phono stage and a Fidelity Research MC201.... Not the equipment is my point. There are flashes of greatness here but there are dropouts in volume at times, as if the tape has sticky shed syndrome in those patches. I have several R2R decks, that is what that sound is. I do not think it is the "pressing" more than it is on the tape it came from. I would pass on this, not sure a SACD is any better if derived from the same source.

I purchased this record Jan/21. Pressing is perfect. Sound quality is exactly what we expect with Tone Poets: timbral accuracy, dynamic and fantastic soundstage.

This one is a slow burn. It seems unassuming, but eases you in to a very relaxed and fluid session. I also note the warping as others have, but it doesn’t seem to affect play and the audio quality is unbelievable, like having front row seats.

Mine is perfectly flat, dynamic and vinyl is quiet. I love it!!

For me, this is a failure of the Blue Note.
Unfortunately, the album that is considered audiophile is not. Clear waving of the vinyl, interestingly more visible on the A side. This cannot be the case.
Record returned, I bought 2nd from another seller and the same thing - it is waving (warped!). I gave it back and I don't have it.
I also have reservations about the sound, a bit too flat.

Fantastic allround. Dead silent and incredible dynamics. The instruments sound vibrant and the LP has a very warm sound. 10/10

Just ordered this through Amazon Prime Day and my copy arrived flat as a pancake and perfectly clean right out of the sleeve. Sounds really great!
