Reviews
- Beautiful music, flawless performance. Great package - gatefold, antistatic sleeves for the plates, booklet. Great sound overall.
Silent surface - just a few small clicks for all 6 sides. - As much as I love this live set, for sure Pulse is better experience. What Pulse has that this one does not is Pulse was mixed using the Q Sound process.
Which gives a bigger stage and depth very 3D effects as well.
I’m fine with the packaging just have to take care of it better.
Very glad to have the additional songs as well. - Sound quality of new remixes seems really good. First record has a bit of pops and clicks on both sides even after cleaning, but other that that all three records sound nice, third one is sadly slightly dished, but it doesn't wobble so it doesn't affect the sound at all. Box is a bit thin, but I don't see any problems with that, booklet could've included a bit more photos, but it's enjoyable nonetheless. If you are a fan of Delicate Sound of Thunder you should probably get this, but if you just want to complete your Pink Floyd collection, 2LP version will be just fine.
- Excelent sound. Fully immersive, great stereo and superb instruments separation. I like how the timbre and register of each instrument has been faithfully reproduced. Comparing this mix with that from the 80's, i would say that the experience you get here is more like being on the stage with the band than in the pitch in front of them. I think the main reason why the original album never made it into a great live album is that the mix was not good enough. In my humble opinion, this edition has fixed the flaws from the past. Perhaps, the sound of the original mix reflects better the spirit of the time in which the album was recorded, and keeps that afective and nostalgic component associated to the first time you listened to it. These are the reasons why i keep my old copy, but even so, i still do not consider the original DSOT a great live record. I'm not a huge fan of remixes, but if there was an album needing a remix, i think it was this. In this sense, taking into account the quality of the sound of this reissue, i would say that it constitutes an improvement as compares to the original album, besides, the incorporation of 9 songs makes this version a must-have for Pink Floyd fans. In summary, keep your old version of DSOT, but do not hesitate in getting this new one to enjoy the concert at its best :)
- Just finished first playthrough. SQ is superb. Really immersive, although you need to crank it a little. I do wish they'd done more on the box quality like on Pulse, I would have happily paid extra for the better quality. But I am very pleased with the sound and price, it's a great one for the collection.
- Hey guys, quick question. I'm already the owner of a former version of this record. Does the extra song here bring something unique to the show? I'd like to know as I'm not particularly fond of having two versions of the same record in my collection. Thank you!
- I don't care about a box.... sq is fantastic remaster of the 1988 live show. Must say that the better press and SQ is Live at Pompei by David Gilmour
- God this sounds good! Amazing pressing too. Not a single crack or pop across all three disks! Brilliant!
- Indeed the packaging is not worth the price. Moreover i had to clean the vinyls once opened cause they were cracking like mad. Last thing, impossible to get the download from the voucher, the adress does not exist ....
