I left a slightly cynical post on here BEFORE hearing the 12'' reissue. The digital didn't sound great to me and I was dubious they were remastered from the original tapes. But I'm belatedly revising this, the 12'' sounds absolutely great. Brilliant work, Artless Cuckoo!

Now i have received the Re-Issue of that "legendary 12-Inch-Single". Red Vinyl and limited edition. Thick cardboard-Cover and a nice Promo-Postcard with the artword included. It sounds very adäquat to me from my Hi-Fi-Systems. Well done and thumbs up to the record-makers. I also own the original 12-inch record from 1986.

What happend? Why is this record so much pushed and wanted within a short time. I sold this record few times between 2 and 4 Euros in near mint condition. Aaaaaghhh 😅

I never heard this song before, it is really quite outstanding. I am happy to see that a repress 12" vinyl is being released soon. I will definitely buy the repress as the original 12"s are quite expensive. On the backing vocals on this "Geronimo" song they sound just like Tissy Thiers (from Moti Special/ Michael Cretu fame). Anyone know who is on vocals? Thanks.

              Hi everybody,

I am speaking on the behalf of recording rights owner Mr. Cremer of Eichhorn Records (we previously licenced a track from him by The Poptown Syndicate in 2018) as well as the composer, Mr. Frey himself.
Herewith, I am happy to announce that the master tape of the original release has been found. It will soon be digitalized at a mastering studio in Cologne. There will be an official and legitimate vinyl repress with full art as soon as possible for a fair/standard 12" price with picture sleeve. Please note that it will be re-released directly on Eichhorn and NOT via our label, we are simply taking over the production. The distribution will be via Rush Hour and directly via Bandcamp (links should be available next week). Additional to the vinyl pressing we are about to release this digitally. I hope this is good news to anyone!

By the way, many or most copies of the original pressing were destroyed a couple of years ago, so it is unlikely that backstock copies of this item will still appear somewhere. Congrats to those that could still obtain an original pressing for cheap or may still find it somewhere in a 2 Euro flea market box.

              Thanks,
              John of The Artless Cuckoo

Some new info: On ebay is a FAKE-Picture-Disc of Geronimo for sale by an Israeli trader, who has a lot of FAKE-Picture-Discs, mostly one-sided versions and so called promos. He also had FAKE Springsteen and FAKE Dire Straits Picture-Disc-Maxi-Singles.

                So, be aware of that.

Wow, what an amazing story about the search of Geronimo. I have that 12-Inch record in my collection for more than 30 Years. It was interesting and curious to me. That was the reason to buy that record in a recordstore in Germany in my hometown. I have followed the stunning story about the identification of that track a few days ago. It was very enthusiastic, to read the comments. Also very interesting effect that a nearly forgotten Electronic-Track draw big attention to todays music-lovers. Well done research.

Special Instrumental Mix was played by DJ Rolf around midday of Monday 26th March 1990 as the last track of an all night party organized by the Amsterdam Balloon Company at Vagator Beach in Goa, India. The moment was captured on videotape by a guy called Zwick to be digitized and uploaded to YouTube in 2014.

The search for the then unknown track started on Discogs forums in 2019 and was finally completed in February 2021. Short documentary film "The Search for Geronimo" was broadcasted on Intergalactic FM CBS TV in March 2021 and uploaded to YouTube.

Axel Frey used the Yamaha TX816 synthesizer and Yamaha QX1 hardware sequencer amongst others to produce the track in Tonstudio Hoysweg. According to him, his adaptation of the Witchy Woman by Eagles was unconscious and this was the only electronic dance music production he ever made.
