- Sounds fantastic! No pops! No crackles! Anti static sleeves! I just wish all new vinyl was this good instead of dirty vinyl and paper sleeves
- Edited 3 years agoWell, where do we start here? The vinyl version starts badly with the worst version of To Cut A Long Story Short imaginable. It is the return of the 2010 remasters, and on headphones it is an awful experience. Fortunately the rest of side one picks up and doesn't sound quite as bad, whether that is because the 7 inch versions are used i don't know. At least the Trevor Horn single remix of Instinction is present and correct.
At least the pressing is okay with minimal surface noise, but the masters used make you feel like you have a head cold. Once you get to True, the sound starts to improve.
Minus marks for minimal effort on the sleeve. Notes? Forget it. Crummy resolution pics? We've got them. Paper inners? Oh yes.
Honestly I think if you need a Spandau Ballet best of, look for anything released prior to 2010 to be sure of getting something approximating the original sound. This release however is half-arsed. No way to commemorate 40 years. - How is the sound quality for this release? Does anyone know which master was used for the tracks, especially the singles from Journeys to glory, diamond and Parade? Hope its not from the infamous 2010 remasters.
