This record is one of the best jazz recordings of the past 50 years. As a lockdown record, it captures the absolute best of humanity trying to stay positive in the craziest situation. As a jazz record it’s the strangest combo of bass and harp doing…everything. It harkens back to Dorothy Ashby and Mingus records, but stays light and just breathes love. The songs are fun, the melodies are up front, and the song selections are quirky without being kitschy. This is the sound of two people daring to have fun and make great music during the darkest of times.
If course International Anthem pressed this with care and packaged it all cool, don’t spend one second wondering about color variants. If you can cop this, do it. Put on some coffee, so your Wordle, and just sink into this thing.
