Show All 56 Reviews- Great album that should be in your collection - always puts me in a good mood. "Totem Pole" is my fav, but there isn't a bad track. What amazing players.
I've been listening to FLACs of this (or just YouYube at work). Finally picked up this LP version.
Outstanding copy for the money. No gatefold, but does have a poly-line inner, nice printing on front and back. No surface noise. Good instrument separation, can FINALLY hear the bass and the subtleties of playing. The trumpet is panned left and sax right, and they blend so perfectly when playing in unison. - Edited 2 months agoCompared with 45 RPM from Analogue Productions, the 45 had more volume, more air and life in the instruments, however the 33 RPM was more punchy and dynamic. Considering the price this 33 RPM pressing is a bargain!
- I own a few "audiophile"(I don`t really like the term personally)records including some of the Tone Poet Series & this classic is as good on SOUND quality as most of these. The texture in Bob Cranshaw`s double bass is WONDEROUS the details in the pressing are for a £30ish vinyl record OUTSTANDING,you can CLEARLY hear the musicians breathing & so forth in the background.
All five musicians are in fine form here & it would be hard to say who`s album it REALLY is if you didn't know already.
My copy is "FLAWLESS" - single album cover with an anti-static inner sleeve, this GREAT Pressing will only go up in value so grab a copy while they're still sold new sealed for the correct rrp!
Highly recommended five stars*****

Phono Stage:
Whest Audio TWO.2 class a dual mono fully balanced phono stage, 50db/47k ohms,HOMC setting. - This is a great version of this album. Highly recommend it, it is not short of any qualities this album deserves. Worth getting!
- Lovely pressing, really life-like and well balanced. A really immersive album, another great reissue by Blue Note!
- Just perfect! This is how a reissue should be done, and sold around 25€. This album from Morgan is great, and the record just flat and clean! You should buy it if you like Morgan!
- Awesome 180 gram pressing was presented in a cheap paper sleeve. I replaced it with poly lined sleeve ASAP. Nice flat & quiet vinyl….Very minimal surface noise. Album cover was immaculate. The master by Kevin Gray was awesome. At any rate, this is a nice addition to the collection. Love these new Blue Note Audiophile Reissues. Great quality without breaking the bank!
- Just got my copy from Amazon.de; despite the ultra static paper inner, my copy is perfectly flat, has no non fill, distortion or glitches and after one round on the Okki Nokki it plays quiet as a mouse. Perfect pressing!
- Edited one year agoI can't get enough of listening to this wonderful release. Such powerful music by a masterful and timeless quintet: Morgan, Henderson, Harris, Cranshaw and the punchy Billy Higgins! Such quality of sound! Highly recommended.
