- Yup the idiots won here & persistently called for the 7" to be merged into the LP comp/made unavailable as a 7" single. Forget the general guidelines, the 7" has its own identifiers, I bought mine officially & without the LP!!! But some folk think they know it all. All you've achieved is lost revenue for Discogs on potential sales & annoying many folk who don't see your logic. Nice one.
- So 3000 7" singles for 1000 white Vinyl releases? Why this stupid merge? This 7" were sold with different colours! Mine the orange one. Why not add the 7" as a single part to the release?
- Not sure what genius thought it was a good idea to merge the 45 and the LP, but come on. Guess what, even those these are packaged separately with unique UPCs, you now can’t sell them separately on Discogs. Nice work.
- Still available for under £20 from Late Night Tales: https://latenighttales.co.uk/products/khruangbin with CD or cassette.
- Received an unbelievably warped copy numbered 2000/3000. You should see this thing bounce around on my turntable!
- Edited 3 years ago'Summer Madness' is one of those tracks you probably never wanted, or needed, to hear a cover version of. Penned by Ronald Bell (R.I.P) & 'The Gang', it is a masterpiece of ambient soul bliss that almost nudges on psychedelic. It's absolute perfection pretty much denies even the mere thought of messing with it, remixing, editing etc.
But once again our modern protagonists/disrupters Khruangbin show their professionalism by pulling off a respectful & brilliant version, which plays on its own natural strengths, rather than trying too closely to replicate those of the original.
Clever move. Khruangbin's version has all the charm & character of their own written work; the instrumentation feels acoustic, gentle & warm, with the signature touch of their dub-echo sensibilities. The soaring synth line (the crucial crescendo of the original & the part I dreaded anyone trying to copy) is replaced by a fitting & feedback- driven finale. With slick percussion, warm goey guitar, bass & ambient effects, this is a 1st class take & a great version in its own right.
Approved! Despite said reservations of covering such an iconic, sacred piece of music...
