I wasn't so sure the buyer's name on the sleeve thing was to discourage scalpers; certainly I bought it because I heard the music on Tidal and liked it and I thought it was kind of cool that it was "personalised". That said, the wording on the Duophonic Bandcamp site might suggest otherwise: "Please note that you will not be able to purchase multiple copies and the purchaser's name will be handwritten onto each sleeve."

Either way, and most importantly, the music stands up on its own two feet.

This is a lovely double a-side and the sound quality is excellent as to be expected from Duophonic. It is perhaps a bridge between Cavern... and Stereolab, with a definite Ghost Box feel to it, with plenty of intertextual fun to be had.

The buyers name written on I presume was to discourage scalpers since anyone buying at an inflated price has their copy spoiled by the name of the scalper written on it just to really take the shine off the deal. Not all the singles were sold direct from Duophonic but seems they got retailers to give the names of pre-orders to write on too. Not a bad idea and kind of nice, maybe long after I'm gone some future fan will find my copy in a 2nd hand shop. . Anyway this is rather good, unsurprisingly sounds pretty much like Cavern of Anti-Matter but perhaps more of a 60s feel and more concise poppier sound rather than the looser 70s Motorik thing Tim does with them. Hopefully there is more to come from this collaboration.
