If you experience skipping on the second part of "The Contenders" when the piano comes in together with the riff, just adjust the weight on your tone-arm. First I tried it on my brother's record player, where you can't adjust the weight, and it skipped. When I later played it on my SL-1200 MK 2 I added like half a gram and it plays perfectly. So I scored a near mint UK original for 40$ because the owner said it skipped. Ha!

Late 70's repress in hand, r8068394, appears to be a mis-pressed copy. Side 2 is not as published and has 5 tracks not 6 of something not of this album. Don't recognize the tracks or artist as yet. Anyone seen this one?

My first UK press sounds fantastic! NO pressing fault or defect mentioned in some of the other comments (my understanding is only a certain amount were pressed with this defect) and has the very red dark wine color when held to a light source. Comes in a quality gatefold sleeve. Highest recommendation

Looks like this one is being rereleased in November. https://townsendmusic.store/cart/product.php?id=71494

Are skips on the first song of side 1 a typical problem with this album? I read it was some where and noticed 2 or 3 skips while playing it.

Was the controversy not coca-cola objecting to the unsactioned use of trademark in Lola and had to be re-recorded as “cherry cola”.?How rare is the former?

There's misinformation in this releases Notes. There is no VERY FIRST PRESSINGS with printed lyrics "fucking up my eyes", there's only "fogging" on the first press. This was only a dubbing issue, not a printing issue on the sleeve lyrics.
                Read this:
The Kinks caused some controversy, because in the line "...the air pollution is a-foggin' up my eyes...", the word "a-foggin'" sounds too much like "a-fucking'".[1] Like the band's previous single "Lola" where Ray Davies had to change "Coca-Cola" to "cherry cola", he again had to fly back to London to re-record this line, dubbing over with a more clear "a-foggin'" prior to its single release, in turn causing a delay in the US single release of the song

I have this pressing,A-1,B-3 matrices,w/uncensored "Apeman" but mine is on burgundy colored vinyl. Only noticeable when held up to a strong light source. No mention of it anywhere. Anybody else notice this?
