A wonderful exploration of synthesis by somebody who knows how to make emotional music.

“… His role as the unofficial “fifth member” of Level 42 contributed majorly to the sound of the 80s, but probably even more, as part of the Compass Point All Stars, his work with Grace Jones, Tom Tom Club, Gwen Guthrie, Jimmy Cliff and more fed into so many overground and underground currents. And just as potently, but even more unknown, his solo work practically defined the sound of the Balearic DJs of the 1980s… ‘Mambo’ - large sections of which would be repurposed for Massive Attack's “Daydreaming…”

Did Island just totally forget about their deluxe editions? This, Grace Jones' 'Living My Life' and 'Slave To The Rhythm' - amongst much other cult material have just been forgotten. Shame on them.

Bout Styles, which are incorrect here as they didn't exist in 1964
"Usage of the Downtempo tag for music from before c. 1989 or as a generic tempo descriptor is likely to be contentious. Users should also be aware of the wide variety of potentially better tags for more specific slow electronic styles.!"

          "Future Jazz Music Description
Arising in the second half of the 1990s and also called nu jazz, Future Jazz is higher tempo, less funky, and less live performance-oriented than acid jazz. It has stronger influences of Brazilian and Latin jazz styles, although it rarely uses horns. It often comes from producers influenced by drum & bass."

100% needs a deluxe version. All the remixes that are out there on the original 12'' singles, plus the unreleased demos and outtakes - COME ON ISLAND RECORDS, MOVE IT!
