For me... sorry.... hugely inferior to the Speakers Corner stereo version. Listening to such an otherwise expansive sounding album like this in mono is utterley boring vs the stereo. Mono doesnt work for me hear and thats the only negative but its a big one and thus i sold mine on quickly

      Fantastic version:

1.) Sounds great - no suprise when Ryan K Smith is on the lathe, cutting direct from the tape.
2.) Donny Hathaway in Mono - wait until you feel the bass kick on this motha!
3.) Feels great - nice heavy tip-on jacket.

      Another home run by VMP.

No doubt to Ryan K Smith's talent, I have several records mastered by him, and they are all as good as they get. However, has anyone compared the Kevin Grey stereo pressing to this? I know, apples and pears, but still... which do you prefer and why? probably worth picking up both, if you really like this album.

Wow, wow, wow. I am very impressed. I've been listening to this album on CD for more than 10 years and when I heard about the VMP vinyl available for sale, I purchased this vinyl ASAP from VMP (Vinyl Me Please). The audio quality is superb. I am totally impressed. The audio fidelity from this pressing is superior to the standard retail CD release. Listening to this 1970 historical recording is like getting a chance to sit in on Mr Hathaway's magical studio session. Just close your eyes and imagine this while the record is playing. Definitely get this pressing if you have a chance. it is pressed on (AAA) lacquers cut from the original mono analog tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. 180g black audiophile vinyl pressed at QRP, Salina, KD plus a nice pocket size booklet with exclusive listening notes by Oliver Wang inside the album cover. Don't miss it.

Been quite a bit of discussion about this mono cut and the recent stereo version. I can’t compare, but this version does sound amazing! Super punchy and the usual QRP quality press. Lovely record.

This is a phenomenal sounding record. Vastly superior to the mono version streaming on Tidal. Ryan Sterling is a genius.

I forgot to switch tracks and got this record. I am so happy for that to have happened. Fantastic music, great pressing. Sounds so good.

A fantastic cut. Music comes across as warm with a full body. Well worth if you’re looking for a fantastic copy to own.
