A fantastic album of typically angular early 80's Californian New Wave.

As mentioned below, it will definitely appeal to fans of Devo. But for me, the best tracks are the ones where Su Tissue takes lead vocal.

Simply incredible! Janitor is the obvious example, but every track she leads on is superb.

This album kinda reminds me of The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Reactor (in fact I cross referenced this LP on my review of it). The glaring difference being that the majority of tracks on Suburban Lawns are enjoyable regardless of lead vocalist, whereas the male vocal tracks on Reactor are passable at best.

This original copy sounds superb, but if you can't find one don't turn down a chance to get the Futurismo reissue. It sounds excellent too, but it also contains the Baby EP so there's more tracks squeezed onto each side of the LP.

As a sidenote, what the hell were they thinking with that cover art on this original pressing? I will be diplomatic and say that it's unique.

I was not surprised that Futurismo chose the back cover for the reissue instead...

Somebody PLEASE re-issue this wonderful 80's LP - thank you. Great band - really fun album - fans of Lene Lovich, Missing Persons, and Nina Hagen should give this a serious listen.
