Reviews
- This album is boring. Nothing grabs you, its pretentious use of the flute gimmick on the first track is laughable, what a horrible opener and made much worse by the flute. The second one didn't fare much better, by the time I finished the fourth track I had enough. Hopefully their other albums can deliver some excitement or at least show a pulse.
- an almost dreamlike, evocative album with magical atmospheres. I listened to it on headphones during rainy winter afternoons and it felt like I was dreaming. You know that at the time I barely understood 10% of the English lyrics contained on this record.
- Someone paid £90 for this, incredible. Insanity reigns supreme. What some people will pay for a really common album is amazing.
- Yes! I fully agree with the fellow below. This has always been one of my very favourite Tull albums. I feel the song writing (meaning composition/arrangements, not the lyrics, although they're good too! 😁) is done very well and is quite engaging. I personally find the songs on this album to be much stronger than most, with MAYBE the exception of Aqualung 😊
The US pressings kind of suck, be SURE to get a UK pressing! - I did not expect this album to be as good as it is. At this stage you usually will see bands start phoning in their efforts, to mediocre results. That is not the case here, as this is just a solid Tull album. I definitely prefer side 1 to side 2, as it seems to carry more of the heavy material. There are 2 tracks that I think could've been cut from this album, but oh well. The big standout on this record is the drumming performances and the heavier sounding material, as previously stated. At times I would've liked to hear the kick drum brought forward more in the mix, as it seems buried during some of its greatest flourishes. But all in all, a really really good and seemingly overlooked album.
