- The "Day" Long mix is not unreleased anymore hehe... Beatport exclusive!
https://www.beatport.com/track/day-long-mix/782571 - Doesn't work. Poor concept. Not bad music, but I subscribed to Fabric for good DJ sets, not a batch of tunes from the same artist, mixed badly by the same artist.
- Edited 2 years agoGreat mix - stripped down, propulsive Detroit techno. Also a good primer for those not yet initiated into the world of the artist.
- Still one of my favorite Fabric albums. Its just good old fashion techno at its best with some tracks having a slight tech house vibe. Personally I think it was a great idea to do this as an artist album, I like artist albums much more when they're mixed because I hate pauses between tracks. This album isn't ground breaking its just a good mix comp that happens to be an artist album.
- Edited 11 years agoI don't need to tell you how poor form it is to put all your own tracks in any kind of DJ mix; it rarely works. But this release is unique, almost nobody does what Omar-S does (today). If you have any love for Detroit techno-soul, FABRIC 45 should be in your collection. Omar-S's masterpieces "Psychotic Photosynthesis", "Flying Gorgars", and "U" provide some sheer moments of brilliance.
As a mix, it does nothing innovative. It is evident that Omar-S intended this release to be an singular artist exposition. This was not a good decision, in my view, because it would have been significantly better if it was released as an album, with full-length, unmixed tracks. The mixing does not add anything whatsoever. This mistake is the sole reason why the otherwise sublime FABRIC 45 does not earn a perfect rating.
