- Edited 2 years agoGreat melody and swing. Killer drums on Song for Myrtle. Beautiful sounding record. Must have Tone Poet.
- I’ll take Tina Brooks over a few of the more “iconic” or more celebrated sax players every day of the week. I love his tone and melodies.
A great sounding Tone Poet release honouring a jazz cat who never got the dues he was worth before his sad story ended. - Another fantastic TP series release. Awesome sound. KG’s mastering seems to be able to capture that RVG essence.
- Edited 2 years agoMine has a skip in the same spot of A2 One For Myrtle, but I have not given it a thorough cleaning so I hope that will resolve it. Otherwise I like this record a lot, I don't have any other Tina Brooks, I don't know about it being too laid back or it not being tone poetry - it's stellar and you should get it if you can.
Edit - after a wet cleaning, the skip is gone and I am very happy. - Edited 3 years agoGreat sounding, nice relaxed session. There may be more passionate sessions but sometimes you just want to lay back and enjoy the melodies. This is where it’s at.
- My LP has a very slight warp and Side 2 is a little bit off center. This shouldn't happen with a high price product and quality promise like this. However, the flaws turn out so little on my copy and because the sound and the music itself is so great here, it would be a shame to not own it. It's still worth it.
