Amazing record. Brilliant pressing…..with a lot of non fill, some digital glitches and ticks throughout. Let’s see if number two is any better as I adore this record.
Update.second copy spotless apart from two digital glitches. Happier with this pressing than the first copy. Utter gamble on pressings these days.
I received my copy, I opened it, and to my surprise inside was "something else" ......by Cannonball Adderley. I was just about to return it but decided to play it first. It turned out that the recording was the right one (speak no evil) only the sticker on the vinyl were the wrong ones. I kept it. Maybe one day it will cost more. Did anyone else had the same issue with this pressing?
Of course, a legendary Shorter album. Fine remastering and cut except partially too much dominance in right channel. Unfortunately, even after two exchanges, the Optimal pressing this time falls short in quality. Distortions and pops in A2&3. Record flatness leaves something to be desired even for the lower price level. Looses 1 star in Sound and 1 for pressing quality. A solid 3 for me. Music of course is a 5er.
Had avoided this for ages because of early reports of pressing defects but it looks like the repress had less issues so finally took the plunge. My copy is pristine and the record sounds fantastic overall. Most of the recent BNCs I’ve bought have been glorious sounding.
Great sounding reissue, disc and labels were nice right out of the shrink and the sound is just as good as any of the other BN Classic Series. Highly recommended!
This pressing is "ok". My copy isn't warped, nor is there much surface noise to speak of, but the stereo image is overdone, without enough voicing in the middle. Moreover, the bass is undervalued on this master, and there are moments where audible distortion on the piano becomes apparent. Overall, its fine enough for the price, but if you want an audiophile-quality pressing of this album you best look elsewhere. That said, my copy isn't as bad as some others have noted.
