Notes

After having produced a mini-LP (Heed, Sevendipia Records) earlier this year offering a soundtrack to “pay attention to people around you”, Dèmos is Juanita’s third release and the second of 2020. The 8-track LP aims to portray the depreciation of the powerfuls consideration of their own population. From Greek word Dèmos (meaning: people), the French Brussels-based artist Juanita – who uses to describe his productions as well as the music he performs as ‘music for conscious people’ – paints a reality far from optimism and calls for awareness. Made of vaporous pads, granularity, samples and voices, Dèmos depicts the patriarchal, racist, unequal and hypocritical system we’re stuck in. That being said, you now know where you have just fallen.
