This compilation is worth a buy because of Ott's remix of Bluetech alone. What a magnificent track. Usually remixes of tracks legendary like Prayers For Rain have a lack of inspiration and unique vibe the original track had, but master Ott really nailed it here, as pretty much everything he ever did. It's pure psy-dub pleasure in same style as his remixes of Hallucinogen, all the chords and piano solos from the original are here, spiced with bitcrushers and distortions and all packed in unique Ott's storytelling vibe. Pure pleasure. The other tracks in here didn't really hit the spot for me, except legendary Seb Taylor's amazing project Hibernation.

The first chapter of Natural Born Chillers was one of the best releases of Aleph Zero. Somehow it found a path between deep, atmospheric ambient soundscapes and modern electronica. Talking about the second chapter, it seems this modern electronica started to grow on ambient. If I just take a look on the title, I expect something I can easily chill out with. And this disc has a very, very promising start. But after a while, it just turns into agressivity. Fat basslines, harsch idm sounds, alienating (digital) instrumentations... I don't talk about a change in dynamism, but in style: the second half of the disc is violent in sounds. Eitan Reiter's Coffee eases somehow the overall impression, but I still feel exhausted after listening this audio torture.
Otherwise - talking more globally - Natural Born Chillers 2 reflects quite well on a tendency that appeared in psychedelic downbeat music at about 2005 or so. The whole thing started to become a l'art pour l'art game of manipulating samples as oddly and heavily as possible. Simon Posford still knows the score. But I don't think there are so many Simon Posfords in the scene (or in this compilation).
