Reviews
- How there isn't a review of this almost 20 years after its initial release I have no idea.
I first heard this on the Kemistry & Storm-mixed version of 'Artcore 4', which focussed on the then burgeoning tech step sound and featured entries from contemporaries such as Boymerang, Krust, Jonny L and Optical.
The depth and complexity Decoder manages to create with Vapour Dub sounds like it was made in 2018, not 1998. Clipped, crushed analogue drums, sparse percussion, reverberating white noise, whisps of dub stabs echoing across the beat; it has emerged from almost two decades of maturation sounding even more alien than it must have in the late nineties.
This is a masterclass in making the most of your elements - a truly futuristic dread roller for the ages.
