Reviews
- Edited 10 years agoMenacing "hell-like" sounds, growling synths, reverse-kick-beats, hard kicks and no todays typical build up, just banging and "in ya face" arrangement, a reflection of the spirit of the time back then, when techno and gabber was coming up and still wasn't in an inferior position to any "rules of arrangement". Sexist ? No way...look at the cover, look at the mix-names: "Men's room Mix", "Ladie's room mix". No Women allowed in men's room ist sexist ? Ehmm...okay ^^.......
Generally, people who don't have an eager view can see, that nearly all releases on Rotterdam Records have a joking or non-sense meaning. Music is only banging, that's the meaning. - Edited 10 years agoCLASSIC 92 early Gabber, which rocked the place (as very often made famous by Lenny Dee in his bangin Sterns '92 sets at the time) & still does in any Old Skool set. Was often the case at bangin Hardcore/Gabber nights, that there were mainly guys / very few girls in attendance (as is often the case w/moshpits at the hardest Metal gigs) - likely this EP is just having a little fun with that...but I've just had crowds go off at this as a crackin stompy anthem...not overly-analysing the voice sample/title...as for the one "reviewers" comment 'If you own this you should be ashamed' - the only thing I'm ashamed of is you took the time to write that on this EP...TOP classic!
- I really like this vinyl. If you know more releases of this label, you'll see that a lot of releases playin' more or less with sexuality. They're just jokin'!!!
Today I've realized, that I've got a really early copy of this record! MASTER CUT is engraved on both sides :-) - Edited 14 years agoI agree with stevee0303, No Women Allowed is a classic early hardcore/gabba tune which could still be played to this day in a classics set.
- Now I never say my piece but after reading the detrimental comments to what is a truly fantastic piece of early hardcore techno/gabba, felt I'd better replace the balance of comments here.
Basically this track was for the boys because it was harder than most tracks at the time and when any dj dropped it(and very many did) it caused absolute carnage at every warehouse/club/rave/field at the time and it is right up there with a small handfull of tracks that truly achieved this in the genre.
For those who like early stomping hardcore techno in the early stages of gabba buy this record, it's a absolute classic and must have for any collector!!!
If you don't like it why bother looking it up and commenting??? Go and leave some anal drivel about an intelligent aphex release such as powerpill pacman. - I think the previous reviewers are missing the point of gabba records by a long way. Its fun music to dance to and go completely mental to. It’s not meant to be chin stroked to. This was a big tune back in the day and if you break it down even further every part of it is absolutely rocking.
The menacing string intro, the growling synth and kick drums, the scream before the beats layer up on themselves giving great urgency and my favourite part the stuttering of the synth backed with some background drums. The tune then continues on to have another two great riff sections before finishing up.
And another great reason for owning this 12" is the superb slower B Side with superb sample from Harvey Keitel in the movie Saturn 3.
