I noticed a LOT of crackling on my copy, but you can’t hear it during most of the songs. The music is definitely a little compressed but not unbearable. This is by far the prettiest variant in my opinion so I’m satisfied!
On contrary on what most seem to experience, mine came with very good sound! And I must say the FF vinyl looks better than I expected. The only two improvements it could benefit from, imo, would be to have more splatter on it (cause it looks so beautiful and matches the vibe of the album) and also be a double LP to fit the great bonus tracks it has.
After having waited for a full year and half to get this gold splatter version I can unequivocally say that this pressing IS indeed quiter BUT lacks the dynamics the solid gold version has. Just the cold, hard truth. Just ripped both of them to FLAC at the same volume and go back and forth through each song there is no question the og vinyl release is far more superior and has different mastering. The splatter version sounds muffled, visually looks different when looking at a side by side comparison of the waveforms, and appears to have the high end rolled off quite a bit..doesn't possess the PUNCH. Of course the caveat is there is light surface noise on the solid gold so this splatter version is heading back to the store. I have all the og vinyl versions and was excited to get the newer versions to see if it would have the dynamics but after Femme Fatale being my sample guinea pig not a chance I'll splurge on the other newer versions of all the albums. If you can I'd stick with the ogs.
This album needs a good remaster for vinyl. I don’t liked the sound quality of the gold pressing so i got this one and they sound exactly the same. This shows me that the problem it’s not with the pressing. You can hear that some frequencies of the songs are completely compressed and even some beats of the songs simply gone away on the LP pressings.
It looks nice but it’s rather “quiet”. Also I expected a little more dynamics and detail from a vinyl record but the HiRes flac download sounds a little more exciting. The record sounds kinda dull in comparison.
Got both pressings and they sound JUST THE SAME to me. Both sound bad! :( I'm gonna keep my golden copy, since the splatter version is poorly made. The mockup on the UO site was SO beautiful thou...
