Yes, I love BOTH the vocal and instrumental mix--I actually play the vocal side more. The vocals and silly lyrics are appropriate to this genre.

The synths and production are ON POINT. Sounds like all Prophet-5 to my ears.

Another record that perfectly exemplifies it's era of soulful/funky underground/urban dance music of it's time.

It's all about the instrumental on this 12" for me. An absolute West End classic.

Five stars is not enough. Total bomb on 7 or 12.

This LOVE CLUB has nothing to do with the San Francisco based post-punk/goth band from 85-91 that released an album "lime twigs and Treachery" in 1990. This album is definitely a great example of 80s funk at its finest!
          • Explosive, sexually charged Hi-NRG dance track that was released on West End Records in 1983. I had never even heard of this song until I got the West End Story Box Set Volumes 1-4. This song appears on the fourth disc. In the booklet, it doesn't say much about it except that it was written by none other than Jay "Mixin" Dixon, that notorious house DJ who has become famous for playing these types of songs on urban radio. He even appears towards the end of the song, doing a rap narrative to the lead singer about how there going to "make it right on this summer's night, it'll be just you and me." As for the lead singer, I have no clue. No name is given in the credits. I still can't even figure out if she's black or white. Her voice is very powerful, and she couldn't have been more than 28 when she made this. You begin to wonder why she didn't go on to a bigger career. The only Love Club that I ever heard of was a rock band from San Francisco, whose lead singer was Deborah Borchers. No doubt this was a one-time studio affair for Dixon and this no-name female singer. After listening to this song, you'll be craving for more from these two. All and all, Hot Summer Nights by Love Club is a perfect song to listen to on a July night.
