- Edited 7 years agothere is some very informative info i didn't know about hear, its brilliant to read, i also have a copy of the illegal seal version as well as other versions, mine is white with cat no/ scratched out. i've had it for a long time now. so must of been a early bootleg. classic tune. my favourite release is the mix with ( drop it ) vocals on the intro, brilliant for fader work.
- Edited 9 years agoDid you know http://www.discogs.com/Blame-Music-Takes-You-Seal-Version/release/2093248 is the very first release of this and due to it's popularity this was pressed (the version page you are on now) and after the normal illegal sampling was done. As was and is the norm in the underground scene. To avoid legal/financial issues the commercial version was made and left everyone that got it in dismay, as it just was not the tune they heard and searched everywhere for! Anyway yet another release was made (the beige one) and unfortunately for most people, others in the know had already took them! So most people were plain SOL and had to wait for a copy to turn up or get a bootleg years later. Did you know that a mint copy of the original white sold for £1,500,00! (Not long before the bootlegs turned up). That makes the original of this the most expensive hardcore record ever! Atleast to my knowledge anyway. That's all folks! :-D
- Edited 9 years agoThese copies here http://www.discogs.com/Blame-Music-Takes-You-Seal-Version/release/2093248 are actually the first ones made.
- seal version is also on a red sleeved release, later pressed without the sample, just like trip to the moon and 'the doors' sample. Early versions had the vocals and later pressing had it removed.
- Edited 11 years agoMusic Takes You took 4 hours to make and cost £30 for the studio time. Equipment used was a Casio sampler, a Juno 106 synth, an Atari ST and a Soundcraft mixing desk. All the samples were taken off cassette versions of the originals, and as a results the samples were very hissy. Rob Playford wanted it re-done properly and contacted Seal for the use of the sample. Seal actually wanted to sing on the track but his record label vetoed it and stopped the use of the sample.
