Reviews
- Edited one month agoPicked up a used copy in Disc Union Shibuya. Flat vinyl, barely any surface noise and sounds awesome, such a good find! Just swap out the shitty paper inner sleeves.
- My experience with GZ pressings lately has been positive, including picking up this release at my local. The only thing I dislike about GZ pressings are the nasty paper sleeves. Otherwise, discs look very good, flat, and the album sounds great. I enjoy this pressing over my CD and digital files. Sounds really warm and wide. Nice smooth bass. The samples really shine, I'm really impressed. I wouldn't mind paying an extra 5-6 bucks retail price for a bargain poly sleeve inner, the paper has got to go. I think GZ has gotten much better at pressing without surface noise and limiting defects but this is just based on my anecdotal data.
- Picked this up at my local shop for $19. Records were really dirty, but cleaned up nicely after a a go through the record cleaner. Flat vinyl, no defects. There's lots of artificial surface noise on this record for those unaware. Well worth the money spent.
- Sounds OK but not an amazing pressing. Obviously Madlib's samples can give the impression of more surface noise and crackle than there really is, but equally my copy came straight out of the shrink looking pretty grubby and with quite a lot of scuffs and marks on the surfaces of both discs.
- yeah this pressing might be better soley on the fact that it is pressed by GZ Media as opposed to Rainbo since they closed their doors last year I think. This is great since GZ is a way better pressing plant compared to Rainbo.
- Absolute killer pressing, especially for the price! To my knowledge, it’s still available on the UK Rough Trade site for about $57 cad, and it’s a double-disc reissue, meaning you receive two copies!
