Notes
This is the first pressing ('Version 1'), featuring 23 songs across 22 tracks. Though listed separately on the labels and inside-gatefold track list, A3 & A4 are one continuous take and are banded together as one track, with a combined time of 6:20.
This version's distinguishing attributes:
The sleeve has red text along the spine, and no track listing on the rear sleeve.
The labels have no rim text at the top (later pressings' rim texts apologize for the incorrect track listing on the sleeve).
'Who Killed Bambi?' does not appear on this version, neither on its discs nor its track listings.
The track listing on the inside gatefold is not in anything like a correct order. It omits 'Rock Around the Clock' altogether, and lists 'Johnny B. Goode' and 'Roadrunner' as two separate tracks. It also mis-titles 'No one is Innocent' as 'Cosh The Driver', 'Friggin' In The Riggin' as 'The Good Ship Venus', and 'C'mon Everybody' as 'Come On Everybody'.
Note that some Version 1 sleeves included the Version 2 discs (with the amended running order), as well as a paper insert listing the amended track list, and in some cases stickers too – including a star-shaped sticker which incorrectly states '20 New Tracks' instead of 21. However, just to confuse matters, the version listed here as matrix/runout Variant 2 contains both the original version 1 discs and the paper insert.
Also note that not all tracks from the film are on this soundtrack album, and not all the tracks on the album were featured in the final released version of the film.

- Edited 3 years agoJust got a copy with A1(stamped, with scratched outs), B2 ( with "tone"), C1 (stamped, with scratched outs) and D2. .... Spine text is yellowish/orange... But I say its this one :)
- Edited 4 years agoi love this tracklisting- the first disc is almost defensible as a proper Pistols album in this form!
leaving in the studio chatter after lonely boy is a nice touch
its 23 tracks or 24 depending how you count the Johnny Be Goode/Roadrunner medley
the only other version that i like this much is that wierd Australian reissue that has the complete October 76 session grouped together on disc 1
I wanna be me is a class tune but i can't see how it relates to the swindle concept, i'm sure it was nice for the fans who didn't get the anarchy single before it was deleted but adding a song from yet another period/recording session just made the album even more disjointed - and the track was going to be released on Flogging a Dead Horse later the same year anyway.
a better choice would have been to keep this track listing and use i wanna be me and/or the vocal version of the GSTQ symphony as the B-sides to C'mon everybody - The notes section states that 'Who killed Bambi' & 'Rock around the clock' are omitted from this release. 'Rock around the clock' is listed as track A2. The missing track is 'I wanna be me', I believe.
- Edited 9 years agoThis is the FIRST pressing of the soundtrack album to the film of the same name featuring a unique 23 tracks with a unique running order & unique disc labels. All other releases from 1979 have a totally different running order and track A1 with vocals, plus totally different labels with credits for when the tracks were recorded.
