Notes
Tracked live at the almighty hotel2tango, 6-11 octobre 2020. Edits and overdubs 12-18 octobre 2020. Mastered at Greymarket.
Released in a gatefold cover with b/w printed inner sleeves. Comes with label insert.
This release is auto-coupled: the LP contains sides A and 3, while the 10" contains sides B and 4.
The record labels name the sides 12A, 12B, 10A & b (the b side of the 10 inch is labeled simply 'b').
The cover refers to the order of the tracks as sides A (12" A side), B (10" A side), 3 (12" B side) & 4 (10" b side)
For additional clarity: the 12" contains what is referred to as sides A and 3 (where Side 3 contains a locked groove) and the 10" has sides B & 4.
Side 3 (12" side labeled 12B) ends with a locked groove.
The writing on the label of the 10" side b (AKA "Side 4) is in Yiddish; "מיך וועלן זיי איבערלעבן". The correct spelling for the word is "מיך וועלן זיי איבערלעבד" (Translation: We will outlive them).
Housed in an embossed gatefold sleeve and includes a DL card.
Some pre-orders at independent record stores included a promo poster.
The back cover features logos of SODEC Quebec and FACTOR.

Reviews
- Edited 10 months agoA bit of a gritty sound and a noisy non-fill pressing; not the best production effort all round.
- Edited one year agoA few ticks here and there, but nothing spectacularly bad. Not experiencing bad surface noise as others have mentioned. As for muddyness, it wasn't a huge difference om the vinyl and streaming in my opinion, but I quite enjoyed the vinyl sound for this record, it just fits the music.
Some harsh noises on the locked grove, but that isnt a huge problem. Do not hesitate picking this one up if considering. - Edited 2 years agoMy copy plays fine overall but there are a few ticks on 12" B. Regarding the “muddy” production style, that is definitely intentional. Liner notes say that the album was tracked live (with edits and overdubs tracked later) so I would assume some of the musicians performed in one room. Jace Lasek, who recorded and mixed the album, is a phenomenal engineer. Check out his work on Cloak & Cipher by Land of Talk. Outstanding.

- Pressing's a tad quiet, like most GY!BE releases
Crackled & popped quite a bit straight out of the box, but my copy had been sitting in the back a record shop for God knows how long - To be honest, this album mix is just as "muddy" as the rest of their discography... Comparing this album with the original Golden cut of LYSF, 'Allelujah! and Asunder..., they don't feel any different. My complaint is that it has some amount of surface noise, the worst part is the locked groove which has a ripping noise in each rotation. Otherwise no regrets getting this album.
- I am not an audiophile, i just listen to the music for the sake of it.
This is an exception: sometimes a record is unbelievably unlistenable, not for the music but for the mixing.
How did they manage to make such a mess with such beautiful album?
Consider not buying this.
