- What an absolutely stunning blend of deep grooving dub techno tracks! From start to finish this is just amazing!! Top class!!!
- Criminally underrated album, pure raw dub techno here. Fortunately all those tracks are slowly released on wax...
Part 1 as Dub Zero on Travelling Dubs And Echoes EP (Echocord)
Part 2 as Check Mate on Check Mate EP (Echospace)
Part 3 as Calculating Systems on Travelling Dubs And Echoes EP (Echocord)
Part 4 is still unreleased to my knowledge
Part 5 as Beautiful Minds on Check Mate EP (Echospace)
Part 6 as The Dark Future on Dubs Etched Into Relief EP (Echocord)
Part 7 as Deep Stare on Message Of Sound - Pt. 2 (Echocord) - I can't believe there was never a review on Discogs for this album! Three years later and I still find myself coming back to it and enjoying it as much as when I first got it. While I've been a fan of Stephan Laubner since his 1999 "Sommerpause" 12", this album is his crowning achievement in my opinion. I'll admit that is a biased statement since I don't care for drone/ambient material, nor have I heard everything he has done but dub techno is just a my preferred genre.
The album title states it clear; this is Laubner honing in a clearly defined genre and nailing it without a glitch. What's more surprising is how the entire album is a constant MIX; tracks blend seamlessly without sounding like a DJ set, but rather a full composition with different movements. Fans of the usual dub techno camp (Deepchord, Basic Channel, Quantec, yaddah yaddah) will be pleased. Reverberating chords, swirling ambient textures and hiss, the whole nine yards... This album is a timeless masterpiece.
