My exchanged 2nd copy is awesome - flat, quiet, and centered. Seems like many here have found this was one of the less well executed classic series releases...easy to forget how spoiled we are to have all of these Blue Note re/rm's at such low prices.

My copy also had distortions or pressing faults in numerous places on side 1, especially on the first track. Exchanged it for a new copy, which definitely is better but still isn’t perfect. Wish they’d repress the Music Matters versions.

Like many folks here, my copy arrived today and A1 has very nasty repeatable distortion built in to the pressing. Does render the tune un-listenable. Very disappointing - why is the vinyl world so hit-or-miss? Certainly makes me reconsider dropping $25 on a supposedly great re-issue - I feel like a chump.

Bought direct from Blue Note. Lots of distortion and pops. Blue Note sent me a replacement that's even worse. Maybe a good record to play when you're washing dishes. Update: got another replacement and it's just as bad if not worse. Avoid this particular pressing.

Absolutely perfect pressing. The vinyl is clean, flat with no surface noise. The mastering is everything we've come to expect from Kevin Gray. This is the best way to hear this classic jazz recording outside of an original pressing.

So noisy: may as well just toss it in the trash. At least if it was an original pressing it would have some collector value but this is a bowl of Rice Krispies to listen to. Yes, I have done all I should do to clean it, etc. It's just garbage.

luckily my copy is well-pressed, though there seem to be some pressing defects out there. I do always clean my pressings with a vacuum-based cleaner and then apply an anti-stat gun to it, which probably helped solve some of the issues raise. It sounds amazing but of course there is a noise floor given the recording timeframe and the fact that it is AAA.

If you buy this pressing expect noise on side 1. There is 100 comments here saying that and mine is no different.

Mine sounds close to perfect. Some minor distortion in the crescendos. Fantastic dynamic.

My copy had multiple manufacturing defects, as others have noticed. Loud, staticy distortion in A1 that's impossible not to be distracted by. Other songs on side 1 as well. Side 2 seems better, but this is going back.
