Philippa – Patience Young Grasshopper

This ep sees the addition of two artists to the At Peace roster - Nottingham's' Andy Riley, of Inland Knights and Toka Project fame, and Zayn Kemp - a well known house DJ from New Zealand with hip hop roots. Label Boss Philippa (New Zealand born, now Berlin based) leads the way with the first cut 'Wax On' - it's a jazz based beat workout, utilising double bass and rhodes keys to maximum effect. Track two is a remix from Andy Riley and employs funky bass hits and rhythmic percussion - delivered with a light touch that breathes air onto the dancefloor. It's a dancefloor bomb which is always well received. The relaxed and groovy track three comes from Zayn - and features a sample from New Zealand singer songwriter Julia Deans. There's a nice story around the use of this sample - Zayn had written the track but was fairly sure we wouldn't be able to release it due to the significant uncleared sample of a fellow kiwi. As luck would have it one of Philippa's colleagues at dBs Berlin is Julia's sister - and an agreement was reached via these channels. Julia's voice adds to the specialness of the NZ vibes on the ep.
