This LP has always struck me as being not only a classic example of what true industrialism
should sound like on record, but also as one of the best and most overlooked releases
from the early Mute catalog. It either conquers, or divides. or in some cases, makes
mincemeat (quite literally so, in fact) out of some people.s good patience. No big
surprise really, since all the track were entire realized through the unconventional
and exploratory use of modern day kitchen appliances. The resultant effect is an
odd combination of mechanical racket, which has been captured and edited to
produce some very hypnotic and often complex rhythmic sequences which in
the right context can offer what I consider to be a great example of early
accidental proto techno. The original Dadaist's would have just loved
this kind of music, had it existed in their day. In any case, you should
have this record in your life. I rate it at a 9 on the quality scale.
