Show All 12 Reviews- I was in the story today and saw that release for 16 bucks - i bought it, just because i like their music, and that album for that price was quite something. It is just like most of the comments are saying: my copy does also have significant and noticeable surfacenoice throughout the whole record, although i gave them a nice clean.
It is sad, that such good music doesnt get the right treatment. Even though it is mastered at sterling sounds, it doesnt sound like that. The voice and the guitar is pretty upfront and good, but the drums dont have the kick they deserve and need. The bass is too much and is more mumbling than exact and clear.
In my eyes this records wasnt made for quality reasons, its probably pressed and mastered for people, that just want to have fun while listening to this album. Because i gotta have to admit: this records does look very beautiful.
Many people say, that this band doesnt deserve their hype, because they copy led zeppelin. In my eyes, with this album, they changed to a band, that made their own style. The same critics also say, that there isnt a good rock band in the modern days anymore - here you have the proof, that there is. Led zeppelin does also live from their saga, they for sure are/were fantastic, but it was also kind of mainstream back then. Greta van Fleet are bringing some sort of this 70s spirit back to the 2020s, but with lots of new stuff. They are creating fantastic new music. If the singer didnt sound similar to robert plant, no one would even compare them to led zeppelin because they are so different. I have great hopes into greta van fleet and i hope, that their upcoming music will be released on better sounding vinyl with improved mastering. - I think it looks absolutely stunning, next to the black vinyl which I also own. Don’t know about the sound quality though, since I didn’t buy it for listening purposes, cause for that I already own the black vinyl. I actually believe it stands out exactly because it doesn’t have a sleeve, but just the plastic with the sticker and the barcode on it. I actually own two copies…
- I also bought the tie-dye and was very disappointed with the packaging but thank god mine is just a keepsake cause I also bought the white version and the plain black vinyl I only play the black issue and it sounds fantastic.
- Adding to what others have already written here... This got me pretty mad for a special edition that was bought from the band's store directly.
You receive the two green vinyls (which look beautiful, at least visually) and a plastic jacket with a sticker that has the tracklist. No paper jacket, no sleeve, no separate tracklist. Although it is not pictured with the record on the store, I think everyone (myself included) was expecting a regular paper jacket at the least, if not a gatefold. This plastic jacket is what you'd expect from a picture disc or a novelty item and is one that you almost immediately replace to prevent damaging your record.
And yes, you will get an email with a downloadable copy of the record jacket and song lyrics. It looks awesome and the artwork is wonderful! -- Too bad it's not holding the records! How do I get use out of this? It's a bit of a slap in the face, almost like a consolation prize for coming in last place. To think, this sucker cost around $48 USD with shipping, which converts to just under $60 CAD. Yikes.
One plus side, at least my copy sounds good. No skip, not physically warped, no sound quality issues.
Love the band, but this is a blunder from whoever was controlling this special edition for sure. As much as I want to support the band directly, I would advise anyone considering buying this album to buy a different version and save yourself both the trouble of replacing the outer plastic jacket, and the buyer's remorse of ordering the wrong copy.
TLDR: Strongly recommend buying the standard version considering you will miss out on the paper jacket, a plastic or paper sleeve, a tracklist, and the price is pretty unforgiving. - After a double pro cleaning this is an example of the poor pressing quality... https://youtube.com/shorts/Ct_fAbiI7Bg?feature=share
- Absolute disaster of a release... DONT get it! safe the money and get the normal version. This version looks and sounds like trash. This is the most disappointing release in a while...
- Worst "limited edition" release I have ever seen. No gatefold cover, just the crappy, oily plastic sleeve with a hype sticker. Why would I pay more than the regular price for this? I went back to my order description and saw the mention of downloadable artwork and song listings but there is no information on where to get the download. The site makes no mention of it. A google search turns up nothing. Do I have to buy the regular issue, just to have a gatefold? This is stupid.
- I've owned over 600 vinly records spanning 60 years, and this is BY FAR the WORSE SLEEVE I have ever received. Especially be a "limited edition" version, the sleeve is an absolute waste. I get hand oil all over the inside of the sleeve getting the vinyl out, I might even discard the sticky sleeve and use a dollar cover instead. Audio quality sounds fantastic, just wish they included a real sleeve instead of this garbage.
