Crystal clear, intriguing, amusing, and serious studio jamming and outtakes. Loose Ends isn't for the casual Jimi Hendrix fan, but the devoted will find plenty here to savor. Treats include: Jimi's humorous request to turn up the volume in his "ear goggles" on the sadly too-short workout of Carl Perkins' "Blue Suede Shoes" (on which Jimi good-naturedly tutors Buddy Miles to play in a particularly "old time" way); the wild ride that is "The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice"; the stab at Dylan's "Drifter's Escape"; piano overdubs that are uncredited but almost certainly Hendrix himself adding layers to the mix; and the wonderful chemistry Jimi, Buddy Miles, and Billy Cox exude as they rehearse.
