AB-1006 Santa Maria is the one to go with if you can find a clean one. AB-1006 Pittman is a very close second. AA-1006 pressings are lacking, as they are a later press. Cisco and the AB-1006 Santa Maria are close, with the Cisco getting a nod for being quieter. However, on the track that matters (IMO), Aja, AB-1006 gets the nod. I have compared all 4 and look forward to hearing the Analogue Production UHQR version. Given Aja and Black Cow tapes have allegedly been lost, misplaced, stolen..., it will be interesting to hear AP's version

Got this in December 2020, listened through again and got the right listing as Santa Maria pressing.
The AB1006 copy, near mint, listened to it back to back with the remaster 180g Back to Black version. This one and the remaster 2008 are very comparable in sound quality and delicate detail. IF anything I would say there's a tiny bit more brightness in the remaster, but not in a bad way. Anybody else feel this?

It's time for an audiophile pressing of this one! Mofi, Acoustic Sounds, Impex or Speakers Corner. Please!!

I sought this copy out and managed to get a copy shipped in from the US. I went down the ' What's the best sounding copy of AJA rathole' and decided it was worth the risk.

A good friend and I have compared this issue to several UK pressing 1st and represses , various issues of CD's and even a Japanese SHM variant, this is the best we have heard.

It is more dynamic , greater range on the bass and treble, is more 3 dimensional too. I haven't compared to some of the super expensive pressings CISCO etc, and doubt if I will ever get the chance.

This is worth trying to get hold off if you can.

                  So many AB 1006 pressings.

                  I have a S AB-1006 (RE-3) A 1A
The “S” is etched really faint and squiggly
Is that what the S is supposed to look like?

I've had this copy since I was a kid and fortunately it was well taken care.
I bought a Cisco 30th when it first came out and yes, it is FCKNG amazing BUT...when the prices broke through the ceiling I sold it and absolutely do NOT regret that since I have this copy and a few extra Benjamin's to spend on other slabs.
It's all about how you like to spend money but at a tiny fraction of the Cisco price, this version is it!

Anyone know which copy mine is? Deadwax on side 1 looks like this:
                      S Z AB 1006(RE-3) - A KA 1B
                      Thanks.
