Feverish voyage into a post-industrial heart-of-darkness. Here 23 Skidoo blend seriously mature instro chops, hold up exotica’s mirror to a Paradise more Torched-than-Found, slur tapes to virtual funk collapse, and artfully create a pervasive, nauseating, hallucinatory air of Fourth World-ism gone badly wrong. Seems wrong to canonize this stuff but, seriously, ‘Seven Songs’ is a masterstroke.
One of the greatest bands of the 80s. True pioneers. "Seven Songs" is a masterpiece of percussive industrial funk blended in a unique way with eastern mystique soundscapes. TOP!
Both sides end with locked groove. Very cool:) Great record.- Yes, once commercial success meant someone might pull it from the most obscure corners. And why not? 'Seven Songs' remains a fantastic, thrillingly intimidating pop record. A true statement of independence, liberation, extasy, imprisonment and mystique. 10/10
