Reviews
- Listened to the V podcast (March 23) and Bryan G mentioned this is being repressed… the FFRR version with all the mixes
- Lovers Rock mix repressed on the brilliant soul jazz compilation 'black riot' - double LP of bangers currently available at half price of a decent 12" here - recommended
- No one said Optical made this?
Him on Facebook (25 September 2013):
"1994 Leviticus - Burial. Made in the back of The Roller Express in Lea Valley, London. One of the biggest tunes of the era and my first work as a producer with Jumpin' Jack Frost. Jungle Fever all the way!!" - Shit! I've finally found the track! I arrived fresh over from South Africa, to the depths of South East London Council Estate life in 1995. Getting stoned out of our boxes on crap hash, listening to Jungle on Pirate radio, playing Fifa 95 on the PS2...
Great times :P ! - Female extended vocals are usually not my thing but this JJ Frost classic is so addictive and such a great tune I could listen to it on repeat all day. Nice block rockin beats and a killer bassline, everything about this track just clicks. I swear that funky bassline bit with the male "ooooohh" vocal sounds like it was lifted from old Duran Duran record. Funny story, when I first heard this track I thought the reggae vocal said: "Big barnyard heavy" rather than "Big, bad, and heavy". I was like what the hell is this guy on about? Barnyards?!
- A true original ragga Jungle classic from original first day Jungle producer Jumping Jack Frost with the enchanting 'Big Bad and Heavy' male vocals cleverly call & responsed by female vocalist Yolanda. This particular track got so many media exposure due to the many dj plays it got on the UK Jungle raves back in the days. Also this particular track helped to push the more ragga influenced Jungle sound after the more 'rave' inspired piano looped breakbeat wich was at it's top at that period of time.
