One thing worth noting about this original UK press of 'Discreet Music' is that the main piece on side 1 runs slower than the 2004 CD or the 1983 US EG Editions reissue (and probably most or all of the other editions). Not sure if this was an intentional artistic decision on the original or the result of a faulty tape deck or lathe, but it certainly gives the record a different feel. Whether or not you prefer it over the slightly faster, higher-pitched version, that's for you to decide. I think both are of equal value and worth having... as for pressing quality, this UK original has quite a bit of expected surface noise but if you prefer 'Discreet Music' on vinyl, that just becomes part of the music.

Beautiful music, not the greatest pressing though. Despite being an original UK press, the record suffers from the volume being lower than usual due to groove cramming. I have to turn this one ALL THE WAY up which only reveals surface noise and groove distortion. It may just be my copy but the volume did seem oddly lower than usual.

Thankfully i was young enough(so just a tabula rasa when it goes to music)to appreciate it as music and as a work of art.Definitely one of the albums that changed my preconceived ideas about "what is music" etc...
I thank Eno for that and many more when it comes to free thinking music.

For me Discreet Music is the ultimate ambient album. Listen to it when you wake up in the morning - its the sound of a new day dawning and it makes you feel good to be alive. It resonates with whatever enviroment you happen to be in at any given time.
No collection is complete without it.
