Maybe one of the most overlooked mod revival bands. I used to have this album when I was 14, young mod, and into all things mod (1984). I grew up with a love of scooters, but got into the mod scene because I was too young to hold a license. I missed the boat on the great 1979 revival, but lapped up the later mid 80's scene. Loved the Jam, Who, Secret Affair, Purple Hearts, and all the other mod revival bands of that era ( anyone remember Mod Aid at Walthamstow 1986? Failed my French O level the next day because of that gig ). But the Chords are the band that I play again and again. They would knock half of the guitar bands around today into a hat with their tightness, and sheer energy.I remember buying The Rage single in Carnaby Street maybe that year, for a fiver, ( with Brett "buddy" Ascott, maybe my favourite drummer apart from Keith Moon )and thinking I was looking at the next big band, as we all did. If Secret Affair can do a reunion gig, then maybe, maybe, these guys will.
