Reviews
- Great record! "Shadows" is the track for me. Classic Lonie Liston keys.
Silly prices the last year though. You could not give it away when I got it years ago. - Edited one year agoSuper chill record throughout, featuring Bob Thiele and a handful of his Flying Dutchman cohorts sticking to the cutesy side of jazz funk overall, with lots of pleasing if not interesting string and horn arrangements. The opener "Improvisational Rondo" is super funky, and "There Once Was A Man Named John" is a a hella emotional number co-written by Thiele himself and featuring a KILLER (in all caps) Charlie Mariano solo, the one reason y'all should be after this record for.
