I almost didn't buy this one because of the track listing. It seemed like a really excessive number of "Queen Of The Highway" outtakes 🙄 Wouldn't they all sound more or less the same? And wouldn't it get boring after the first couple of outtakes? 😴

However! I was wrong! This is a pretty amazing album 😮 It doesn't get boring at all. I'm definitely pleased with my purchase... And it's something that I'll be playing again. Even though this is a compilation of studio "junk" (rejected takes) it's actually really great! 😍

As for the sound quality? I'm very impressed! These are lively and clear recordings with good stereo seperation. The vinyl was nice and flat with nearly zero surface noise 🕵️‍♂️

I lived in a very special place in a VERY special time...LA in the mid to late 60's there was stellar music in the air everywhere...I was at USC and had a gig hauling freight at LAX and each night as I tooled over Baldwin Hills in the cool Summer air in my majestic powder blue '60 Ford Falcon I would be dialed in to KRLA in Pasadena and right at the top of the three AM hour it hit air, the complete LONG version of the Door's "Light My Fire"...Hearing it blast out of my tinty single speaker in my metal dash I knew all was good...so damn good...Doors actually played at my high school in the Valley, they did local concert gigs here and there, and then BAM! They were NUMBER ONE...A fast ride to the top but from the early days of their career I KNEW they were ever so special...Musically tight and mystical plus blend in Jim and his poetic lyrics and it made them that special group...I have two FAV bands...For me The Beatles are top of the pole due to so much working for them...Volume of work, stellar lyrics, excellent musicianship, and they were so dynamic and charismatic...Then came these guys...Rough and ragged at times, out in space now and again, but so inventive...This double LP scared me as to the repetitive nature of the tracks but Oh Nellie!...it is a top of the mind listen...Jim is spotty vocally but who cares as they careen forward cut after cut...Doors fan? A huge MUST have...And if you like good rock and some legendary memories score the Morrison Hotel Sessions...Have a listen and you are back...back to those great LA days...FYI: Quality of the VINYL is superb...Hats off to the German folk who made this piece of music history happen...'68 and '69 was the time but what you hear is FOREVER stuff...Thanks guys!

I'm not a big fan of listening to outtakes or alternate versions, and The Doors aren't one of my favorite bands, but I'm so glad I picked this up. The sound quality is fantastic and like others have said, there's enough variation to make it an entertaining listen.

Never been real big on outtakes, but this is a pretty great listen. Sound is fantastic and it is a totally new listening experience coming from one of my all time favorite bands. Thumbs up from me!

Anybody know why Queen of the highway “take 14” appears twice?

Just had an e-mail from The Doors website, It states,
"The record label did a mis-print and over run. We are not 100% sure of the total numbers, but it was somewhere around 17,000 copies".

Top pressing, now with that aside, there's enough variation in the tracks to keep the listener entertained, let alone the between song banter mainly from Jim but also the producer. I enjoyed this release, though I must say I had doubts when it looked like a load of Queen of the Highway takes, but as I said, certainly enough variation here.

Wow, the sound quality is great! I wasn't expecting it to be. I love hearing the hearing the studio conversations. In my opinion, this sounds just as good, if not better than the AP version.

Amazing recording!!! Brings in the studio with the doors and experience history in the making. My copy sounds amazing clean and so quiet. The Doors were so gifted musicians.

This is a brilliant piece of recorded history! My copy is stamped in gold embossing #07576, on the hype sticker it lists a Limited Edition of 16,000. Such a great insight into the history and recording of The Doors.
