While many people know Keith LeBlanc's Malcolm X/No Sell Out ground-breakng electro/breaks record, I actually think his other alter ego, BEATMASTER, is more funky - this 1984 Tommy Boy 12" single LIPSERVICE didn't get much notice, but is another signature LeBlanc track full of cool samples (Yo! Bam!) and a hard-hitting, complex drum track that was seminal for the early 80s - the only place I know you can find this on CD is the long OOP "TOMMY BOY'S GREATEST BEATS" LP/CD, so look for it now. If you like this, check out KEITH LEBLANC's own MAJOR MALFUNCTION, one of the most influential, amazing electro/industrial albums ever!

This is the creation of Keith LeBlanc who not only made the Malcolm X "No Sell Out" record on Tommy Boy, but also was a former house drummer for Sylvia Robinson's Sugarhill label before going on to work with Adrian Sherwood in Tackhead (with Doug Wimbish & Skip McDonald, his colleagues at Sugarhill) and various other Sherwood projects. His own label, Blanc, continues to release punishing drum machine records.
